Fort Worth

Fort Worth was one of five scheduled stops during President and Mrs. Kennedy’s visit to Texas in November 1963. Air Force One arrived at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth shortly after 11:00PM CST on Thursday, November 21, 1963. The presidential party traveled by motorcade to the Hotel Texas in downtown Fort Worth for an overnight stay. The following morning, Friday, November 22, 1963, President Kennedy greeted an enthusiastic crowd outside the Hotel Texas and delivered impromptu remarks. Then the presidential party attended a 9:00AM CST Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce breakfast in the Hotel Texas ballroom where President Kennedy delivered his final speech. After breakfast, the presidential party left the hotel for a return trip to Carswell Air Force Base and a short flight to Dallas Love Field. In total, President Kennedy spent approximately twelve hours in Fort Worth, though the visit was well documented by local news media.
