Curatorial Commentary
This picture seems to show an odd scene. After the motorcade passed by, people would be expected to return to work or head off to lunch, but these images show them swarming all over Main Street. Where's the traffic?  Had Dallas Police really closed off the street this long after the parade ended?  This location, just west of the Main & Harwood intersection, was too far from Dealey Plaza to have heard any shots, but some in the crowd certainly had portable radios and may have learned about a shooting. Or Mr. Heikes may have simply caught people just meandering about as he finished up his roll of film. - Gary Mack, Curator
