Curatorial Commentary
Bert Holmes (1921-2017) joined the staff of the Dallas Times Herald shortly after returning from World War II in 1946. He officially retired in 1990, forty-four years later, although he continued to write community affairs columns until the newspaper folded in December 1991. His wife, Helen Holmes, also participated in the Oral History Project. Her lengthy three-hour interview may be viewed in full in the Museum's online collections database.
