DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Bob Huffaker. A KRLD police reporter in 1963, Mr. Huffaker broadcast the motorcade through Dallas and later covered events at Parkland Hospital. He then reported live from Dallas Police headquarters on CBS and was standing a few feet from Jack Ruby when Ruby shot Oswald on live television. In 1964, Mr. Huffaker covered the Jack Ruby trial. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on August 3, 1994 by Wes Wise with Bob Porter. The interview is two hours and fifty-four minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
In addition to this 1994 oral history, Bob Huffaker recorded a follow-up interview on July 28, 2006 and participated in numerous programs at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza over the years. Huffaker, along with three of his co-workers from KRLD-TV, wrote the book, When the News Went Live (2004). He passed away on June 25, 2018. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
