Curatorial Commentary

Joan Norwood's late brother, Joe B. Brown Jr. (1930-2013), was a longtime friend of The Sixth Floor Museum. Judge Brown Jr. recorded an oral history in 2004 and participated in three Museum programs, including a panel discussion that may be viewed on the Museum's YouTube channel: The Jack Ruby Trial: A Panel Discussion (youtube.com). The Museum's Judge Joe B. Brown, Jr. Collection includes personal items belonging to his late father, including multiple gavels and pipes, Ruby trial-related correspondence and papers, photographs and even the sign that hung outside of Judge Brown's courtroom at the time of the Ruby trial. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
