Warner Brother's film, PT-109, was the first theatrical film released about a sitting U.S. president. The White House received casting approval, and President Kennedy personally selected actor Cliff Robertson to play young Lt. John F. Kennedy. Jacqueline Kennedy allegedly preferred actor Warren Beatty for the role.
The film was not a box office success and generated mixed reviews. After being out-of-print for many years, it is now available as a DVD-R "on demand" disc from the Warner Brothers Archive. - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
