News Photography

The Museum’s news photography collections include several thousand negatives and photographic prints exploring events prior to the assassination weekend, including the 1960 presidential campaign, as well as every major aspect of the 1963 trip to Texas, the Kennedy assassination and immediate aftermath, and subsequent events, such as the 1964 Jack Ruby trial, members of the Warren Commission in Dealey Plaza and President Lyndon Johnson visiting north Texas. These collections include photographs from both Dallas newspapers, The Dallas Morning News and Dallas Times Herald, representing the work of many local photographers, as well as the personal photographic collections of Tom Dillard, Bill Winfrey, Gene Gordon, Eamon Kennedy and Andy Hanson.
