The image was taken by a photographer from The Dallas Morning News.

To take the image, the photographer was standing up Houston Street from the intersection of Elm and Houston streets and on the opposite side of the road from the depository. The Elm Street entrance can be seen, including the Texas School Book Depository sign that hangs over the door. Some boxes can be seen through the sniper's window, and the lower left sniper's window is open.

The edge of Dealey Plaza is visible on the middle of the left side; a small group of people stand beneath the tree and stoplight on this side. There are several cars crossing Houston on Elm Street.

There are three cars parked on the lower right side.</value></field><field label="Classifications" name="classification"><value>Photographs</value></field><field label="Id" name="id"><value>65561</value></field><field label="Width" name="width"><value>5.6000000000</value></field><field label="Height" name="height"><value>5.6000000000</value></field><field label="Source ID" name="sourceId"><value>11969</value></field><field label="Object" name="culture"><value>Negative (b&w)</value></field><field label="Depth" name="depth"><value>0E-10</value></field><field label="Description" name="labelText"><value>Original black and white negative by a Dallas Morning News photographer.
