At the time, it was called \"the most significant festival of Japanese culture ever to be planned for the United States.\" According to a contemporary press release, virtually every DFW cultural institution took part \"by organizing, presenting, or producing an exhibition or event that focuses on historical or contemporary Japanese culture.\" Since Salinger was en route to Japan with members of the Kennedy Cabinet at the time of the assassination, The Sixth Floor Museum was able to contribute to Sun & Star 1996 through this unique conversation.
