Details about this story are corroborated by the report of psychiatrist Dr. Louis Jolyon West [see object 2002.034.0002.] Text of wire copy is as follows: "APR Special split' APR31 Bulletin (KRLD Sent) Here is a bulletin from the Associated Press Dallas -- Dallas County Sheriff Bill Decker says Jack Ruby has made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide in his cell in the Dallas County cell. Decker said that Ruby beat his head against a wall of his cell early this morning, but a jailer stopped him. The Sheriff went on to say... Ruby was taken to a Dallas hospital where his head was x-rayed. The x-ray showed Ruby suffered only a knot on his head. Ruby is now being examined by a psychiatrist in his cell.
