       (KRLD Sent)

Here is a bulletin from the Associated Press

Dallas -- Dallas County Sheriff Bill Decker says Jack Ruby has

made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide in his cell in

the Dallas County cell.

Decker said that Ruby beat his head against a wall of his

cell early this morning, but a jailer stopped him. The Sheriff went

on to say...

Ruby was taken to a Dallas hospital where his head was x-rayed.
The x-ray showed Ruby suffered only a knot on his head.
Ruby is now being examined by a psychiatrist in his cell.
Ruby is under a death sentence for murdering Lee Harvey Oswald,
accused assassin of President John Kennedy.

Wire copy is assigned date of 04/26/1964. However, this object was originally dated as 04/27/1964 when catalogued in 2012. Wire copy is physically numbered "APR31" or 04/31/1964 which is a date that does not exist. There are not 31 days in April. Dr. West stated in his report dated 04/26/1964 that Ruby attempted suicide "last night" according to Sheriff Bill Decker. Thus, the date 04/26/1964 was assigned to this item. (JM and LR 11/25/2019)

Wire copy is severely yellowed. Creases in paper in lower right corner, and along proper right edge. Paper torn somewhat evenly across top, torn more raggedly along bottom edge.
