DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Andrew Bell. Bell co-owned daytime AM radio station KSKY in Dallas at the time of the Kennedy assassination. Prior to his co-ownership, as an announcer and advertising manager at KSKY, Bell was acquainted with Jack Ruby, who would read advertisements for his clubs on the air. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on November 7, 1997 by Bob Porter. The interview is fifty minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary

Frank Andrew "Andy" Bell passed away on July 1, 1999 at the age of 77. Bell went to work at Dallas daytime-only AM radio station KSKY in 1947, less than six years after the station signed on. In 1963, original owner Chilton Radio Group sold the station to a group that included Andrew Bell. Bell later sold his stake in the station in 1986. As discussed in this oral history, Bell recalls being invited to the Dallas Trade Mart luncheon on November 22, 1963, but he did not attend.

Around the time of the 1963 sale of the radio station, KSKY switched to a Christian format and is now, as of spring 2024, a conservative talk radio station. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
