QuigleyMetalOne metal, round, pin-back campaign button made for the 1956 Democratic National Convention to elect U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy to the Vice Presidency. The button has a white background with an image of John F. Kennedy's head printed in blue at the center. "A Profile In Courage" is printed in blue around the top edge of the pin, and "Elect U. S. Senator John F. Kennedy Vice President" is printed in blue letters on the lower edge. Small blue text on the outer edge reads, "Winthrop Transcript, A. P. Quigley, Publisher." There is one small union logo printed at the bottom of the pin. The back of the button has a straight pin (with no clasp) that extends beyond the edge on one side. This button was given to Jeremy Halbreich by Andrew P. Quigley upon Halbreich's purchase of the Winthrop Sun-Transcript. Mr. Quigley's father (A. P. Quigley) reprinted an editorial from the newspaper for the convention delegates, and passed the editorial and a magazine article out to the delegates with "Kennedy for Vice President" pins attached.
