DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Bertha Lozano Farrington. A Parkland Memorial Hospital nurse in 1963, Farrington was assigned to the triage desk in the emergency room when the presidential limousine arrived following the assassination. Accompanied by Secret Service, she escorted the Johnsons to a secure location. Two days later, Farrington was on duty when Lee Harvey Oswald was admitted to the emergency room. Interview conducted at Ms. Farrington's workplace on March 15, 2000 by Bob Porter. The interview is forty-three minutes long.

Curatorial Commentary

A three-page typed report, "Activities of Bertha L. Lozano, R.N." that details her experiences during the assassination weekend, appears as Price Exhibit No. 20 in Warren Commission vol. XXI, pages 213-215. Over the years, Ms. Farrington was reluctant to share her memories. In this oral history, she explains that she was "not really enthusiastic" to talk about the assassination. She added, "I don't know. I just think, why after all these years?" This recording was one of the only interviews she ever granted. She passed away on September 11, 2018. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
