DescriptionBlack and white photographic print taken by the Dallas police department of Officer J. D. Tippit's squad car following his shooting in Oak Cliff. All Dallas police photographs at the Tippit scene were taken by Crime Lab investigator Sergeant W. E. "Pete" Barnes. R. W. "Rusty" Livingston, also an employee of the crime lab, developed many of the images taken by Dallas Police. This collection of prints is a first-generation set of copies he kept for himself.
Curatorial Commentary
The dark spot in the street a few feet from the left front tire is the blood spot where ambulance attendants found Officer Tippit.  Hanging up in the right rear seat is Tippit's police jacket. - Gary Mack, Curator
