The photographer was standing at the base of the grassy knoll in front of the Stemmons Freeway road sign when he captured the image.  People surround him and the sign, and others can be seen on the portion of Dealey Plaza on the other side of Elm Street.  Some people face him; the three people directly in front of the photographer have their backs to the camera.  Several cars can be seen driving on Elm Street. One plaza visitor, George Reid, recalled in his Museum oral history: \"People were starting to leave things and then, by Sunday morning, there was quite a bit of stuff there--quite a lot of flowers.... And people were coming down there, and people were standing there crying. People just bawling and just talking to each other, hugging each other, you know.
