Also written by hand on the first page are the initials \"JCS\" and the date, \"May 17-1950.\"\r\n\r\nGene Veal worked as a switch tower operator from 1952 to 1989, including in tower 106 (located in the rail yard north of the Texas School Book Depository).  This is the handbook he would have been given at the time he was hired.  On the fold-out map in the book, the tower that is in the rail yard of the Texas School Book Depository is marked as, \u201cTower Number 2,\u201d which is different from Stephen\u2019s recollection of the name of the tower from Gene Veal (106). Veal worked in several towers including the tower located in the parking lot of the Texas School Book Depository building, where his friend, tower operator Lee Bowers, was working at the time of the Kennedy assassination.
