DescriptionBlack and white photographic print by a Dallas Morning News photographer. The image shows The Dallas Morning News Photography Department circa 1955 in Dallas, Texas. In the top row, left to right, are John Mazziotta, Johnson B. Young, Clint Grant, Walt Sisco, and Tom Dillard. In the bottom row, left to right, are Jack Beers, Joe Laird, Doris Jacoby, and John Flynn. All but Tom Dillard are displaying their cameras. Many of these photographers documented the events of the Kennedy assassination and its aftermath in and around Dallas.
Curatorial CommentaryUnfortunately, with the death of Joe Laird in 2016, all of the photographers seen in this image have passed away. The Museum was fortunate to record oral histories with three: Clint Grant, Tom Dillard and Joe Laird. In addition, the Museum recorded an interview with Peggie Mazziotta, widow of the late John Mazziotta, and daughter, Jan Howes. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
