DescriptionOne black and white photographic contact sheet showing positive images for five separate negative strips. All of the images on this page were taken by Dallas Times Herald photographer William Allen on November 22, 1963. Photographers would develop a single sheet with images from multiple negative strips in order to see all the images at once and thus be better able to compare them and to select the best ones for publication. In this particular instance, the negative strip on the bottom is only represented here on this contact sheet. The rest of the negative strips are represented elsewhere in the Dallas Times Herald Collection. The top row of images, showing detained witness Larry Florer being questioned at the Dallas Police Department headquarters, is from Negative Strip 24 (1989.100.0024.0005 - 1989.100.0024.0010). The second row of images, showing Dallas Police officers in and around the Texas School Book Depository, is from Negative Strip 27 (1989.100.0027.0001 through 1989.100.0027.0006). The third row of images, showing Dallas Police officers outside the Texas School Book Depository, is from Negative Strip 25 (1989.100.0025.0001 through 1989.100.0025.0006). The fourth row of images, showing Dallas Police Detectives Leslie Montgomery and Marvin Johnson on the steps of the Texas School Book Depository, is from Negative Strip 23 (1989.100.0023.0002 through 1989.100.0023.0007). The bottom row of images, showing scenes outside of the Texas School Book Depository, including images of Dallas Police Lieutenant J.C. "Carl" Day outside of the Texas School Book Depository holding the rifle found on the sixth floor, are unique images, not repeated elsewhere within the Dallas Times Herald Collection.
