At the 30th anniversary of the assassination in 1993, Dunnigan worked for Read-Polland & Associates, a Texas public relations firm co-founded by the late Julian Read, who had been a press aide to Governor John Connally at the time of the assassination. Dunnigan considered Read a mentor and longtime friend.
