DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Elizabeth Blessing. One of the first women elected to the Dallas City Council, Blessing served on the council from 1961 to 1965. She attended the luncheon at the Dallas Trade Mart on November 22, 1963. Previously, she recalled attending a city council meeting at which Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry indicated that he could not effectively protect President Kennedy during his visit. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on January 26, 2007 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is one hour and thirty-two minutes.
Curatorial Commentary

Arza Elizabeth Cupples Blessing passed away on June 10, 2013 at the age of 94. Blessing served on the Dallas City Council from 1961 to 1965 and, in 1965, became the first female candidate for mayor. Following her political career, Blessing was employed at Ebby Halliday Realtors in Dallas from 1966 to 1999.
