Description35mm color negative showing Tammi True performing on stage at Jack Ruby's Carousel Club in downtown Dallas. Also visible is the back half of the carousel horse carving that is the background for the club's stage.
Joe Hathaway, the photographer and donor of this collection, was a young man working at a camera counter in the early 1960s when he met Jack Ruby. Ruby invited him to come to the club and take pictures of the performers to be used in future publicity materials.
Curatorial CommentaryTammi True was one of the Carousel Club's headliners in 1963. Her real name was Nancy Myers and she shared her memories of Jack Ruby in an oral history with the Museum in 2010. - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
