Admission ticket to The Sixth Floor on opening day
The Sixth Floor exhibit that opened in 1989 was not identified as a museum. After strategic planning in the 1990s, the institution was renamed The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
Early ticket sales to The Sixth Floor exhibit were managed by the Ticketron company, a computerized ticketing system started in the 1960s and later purchased by Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. in 1991. In December 1988, the Dallas County Commissioners Court approved of a 36-month contract with Ticketron to handle all tickets sales to The Sixth Floor exhibition.
On opening day, February 20, 1989, admission was complimentary - as indicated by the $0.00 price on this ticket. Approximately 1,700 people toured the exhibition on its first full day in operation. After opening day, adult admission to The Sixth Floor exhibit in 1989 was $4. - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
