DescriptionOriginal black and white negative on Kodak Safety Film taken by Dallas Morning News photographer Bill Winfrey. The image shows reporters behind a rope in the hallway of the courthouse where the Ruby trial was taking place. The trial was known at the time as "the trial of the century" and received an enormous amount of media attention. February 21, 1964 was the second day of jury selection.
Curatorial CommentarySheriff's deputies kept reporters and photographers behind a rope barrier as a precaution, following criticism of the Dallas Police Department for not having protected Lee Harvey Oswald from being shot in that same building. - Gary Mack, Curator
