DescriptionOriginal black and white 35mm negative on Kodak Tri X Pan Film taken by Dallas Morning News photographer Bill Winfrey on May 9, 1964. A man is visible in the open southeast corner window of the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository; he is holding a rifle. Several men are also visible through the open windows on the fifth floor.
The men were acting as part of the investigative visit made by the Warren Commission to Dallas in 1964.
Curatorial CommentaryPresident Kennedy's assassin fired from the corner window on the sixth floor. Warren Commission investigators appear in both the sixth floor window and in the fifth floor window directly below. On November 22, 1963, two Book Depository employees watched the president's motorcade from this fifth floor window and heard shells hit the floor above them. - Gary Mack, Curator
