Curatorial Commentary

In addition to this educational program, Mr. Gatlin participated in videotaped programs at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in 2008 and 2012.  He also recorded a one-on-one oral history interview on April 17, 2003.  His wife, Virginia Gatlin, recorded her own oral history interview on June 17, 2008.

Delivered with a commanding presence and booming baritone, Mr. Gatlin's vivid impressions of the Kennedy motorcade on Main Street are among the most interesting and moving ever captured in the Oral History Collection. In addition to engaging audiences at the Museum with his story, Gatlin's oral history was prominently featured in the Fall 2006 issue of Legacies Dallas History Journal (Volume 18, Number 2). - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
