DescriptionOriginal 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald chief photographer John Mazziotta. This image shows the Kennedys, with Air Force One in the background, approaching an unidentified woman at Love Field on the morning of November 22, 1963. Mrs. Kennedy is almost entirely obscured by the woman in the dark hat and coat. In the background on the right, Nellie Connally, wife of Texas Governor John Connally, holds a spray of yellow roses.
Curatorial Commentary
On the left, standing under the wing of Air Force One with both his hands at waist-level, is Assistant White House Press Secretary Malcolm Kilduff who would later officially announce President Kennedy's death at Parkland Hospital. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
