The photographer stood on Akard Street between Wood and Young streets, across from the Federal Reserve Bank. The photo was taken looking north on Akard toward the Adolphus Hotel. A group of uniformed baton twirlers lead a marching band south on Akard, toward where the photographer is standing. Crowds gather along the street, watching the marchers.
The slide is housed in a cardboard slide mount that is printed with the words "KODAK EKTACHROME TRANSPARENCY / PROCESSED BY Kodak" on the back and "MADE IN U.S.A." on the front. A red number "18" is printed in the bottom corner of the mount and the date "SEP 60D" is debossed into the cardboard.
