DescriptionOriginal 35mm color slide on Kodak Ektachrome Transparency Film by unknown photographer showing the vice presidential car and its occupants during the motorcade in downtown Dallas on November 22, 1963. Driving the vehicle is Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Hurchel Jacks. Behind him are Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Lady Bird Johnson and Senator Ralph Yarborough. The passengers are smiling and looking in various directions while crowds line the street.
Curatorial CommentaryThis is one of several amateur photographs of the Kennedy motorcade to surface over the years without any photographer identification. This is likely due to the fact that any photographs showing the Kennedys in Dallas on November 22, 1963, were highly prized and frequently re-printed and widely distributed following the assassination, often without the photographer's knowledge. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
