The photographer stood on Akard Street near the northwest corner of its intersection with Jackson Street. The photo was taken looking south on Akard Street toward the Adolphus Hotel. Crowds line both sides of the street and the balcony of the Baker Hotel, some with campaign placards. A man holding one side of a sign that reads "NIXON" is in the foreground, followed by a boys marching band with led by a drum major and flag bearers.
The slide is housed in a cardboard slide mount that is printed with the words "KODACHROME TRANSPARENCY / KODAKCHROME TRANSPARENCY" on the back and "MADE IN U.S.A." on the front. A number "13" and the date is printed in the bottom corner of the mount and the date "SEP 60" are debossed into the cardboard.
