Curatorial CommentarySince 1989, the Museum has recorded over 1,500 oral history interviews, many with Dallas motorcade spectators. The institution's ongoing Oral History Project continues to seek recollections on the life, death, and legacy of President Kennedy. This image shows the great diversity of the crowd that came out to greet President and Mrs. Kennedy in Dallas. Although Dallas was a segregated community, people of all races took the opportunity to come out and see the young president and his wife, and integrated well-wishers could be found all along the motorcade route. - Sharron Conrad, Associate Director of Education & Public Programs
