This image shows Dallas police officer Kenneth Heard and other unidentified Dallas police officers standing guard outside the Dallas Trade Mart where President Kennedy was to speak at a luncheon. The Trade Mart is part of the Market Hall complex just north of downtown Dallas.

The images on this negative strip were taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer John Mazziotta at Parkland Hospital that day. There were two Dallas Times Herald photographers at Parkland - Eamon Kennedy and John Mazziotta. Bob Jackson, another photographer who was at Parkland earlier, was not at the hospital when the Johnsons left, as is pictured in the last frame on the strip.</value></field><field label="Terms" name="thesconcepts"><value>Police</value><value>Photographs</value><value>Kennedy, Eamon</value><value>Mazziotta, John</value><value>Dallas Police Department</value><value>Dallas Times Herald</value><value>Dallas Trade Mart</value><value>Dallas</value></field><field label="Media" name="media"><value displayOrder="0" mediaType="Image" mediaURL="https://emuseum.jfk.org/internal/media/dispatcher/16417/full" mediaId="16417"/></field><field label="Curatorial Commentary" name="textEntriesTextentries"><value>As of October 2013, this original Market Hall sign remains in place outside the Dallas Trade Mart. - Stephen Fagin, Curator </value><value>This object is featured in the Museum's special exhibit, "On Assignment: Dallas Times Herald 1963," which opened on April 29, 2026.</value></field></object>
