Police officers and police motorcycles appear in the midst of bystanders around the southeast corner of the building; the crowd has spilled off the sidewalk into the intersection of Houston and Elm streets.  Signs listing the publishers who leased space in the building can be seen on the south and east sides of the building's corner.

When Oliver Stone came to Dallas to shoot his movie "JFK" his set designers created similar signs, but with the names of the publishers a few letters off from the ones visible in this photograph.
