This slide is the first in a series of 5 slides of the presidential motorcade in Dallas. Each slide shows the limousine with President John F. Kennedy at different distances as it approaches and passes the photographer. This slide shows the presidential limousine from the front; the Secret Service follow-up is car directly behind it, and Dallas Police motorcycles are flanking it on either side. Crowds of people and parked vehicles line both sides of the street. Two business buildings and signs are clearly seen on the opposite side of the street; a white truck is parked in front of the far left building. In the far left edge of the image a traffic light can be seen at an intersection, with an electrical wire hanging over the street.
The mount that holds the film is a Kodak brand. One side reads: "Kodakcolor / TRANSPARENCY"; "MADE BY / [Kodak logo]." The reverse side reads: "MADE IN U.S.A."
All slides are severely faded, and images have been color corrected. Attached are scans of the original slide within the cardboard mount, the original film slide, and the color corrected version of the image. (LC 5/8/2014)

For many years the photographer was unknown, but in 2012, Jack Titus's daughter, Sally Dobbie, came forward and recorded an oral history explaining that her late father, Jack A. Titus, photographed the motorcade from the roof of his office building on Cedar Springs Road. In 2012, the Titus family donated these slides to the Museum. - Stephen Fagin, Associate Curator
