DescriptionOriginal 35mm black and white negative taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. The image shows Dallas Sheriff Bill Decker outside the Dallas County Sheriff's Department offices on Sunday morning, November 24, 1963, talking to reporters as he reacts to the news that suspected assassin Lee Harvey Oswald had been shot. Oswald was to be transferred from the city jail on the east side of downtown Dallas, to the county jail, which is located on the west side, bordering Dealey Plaza. As he was being escorted to the transport vehicle, Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. The photographs on this strip have been attributed both to Andy Hanson and to Eamon Kennedy. It is not possible at this time to determine positively which photographer took these pictures.
