DescriptionOne original 35 mm black and white negative taken by a Dallas Times Herald staff photographer. The image shows Dallas Police officers, two of whom carry shotguns, walking down a hallway at Parkland Hospital, followed by reporters on Sunday, November 24, 1963. The officer on the far left is Weldon E. "Rusty" Robbins. The image is blurry.
Although the pictures on this negative strip have been attributed to photographer Andy Hanson in the past, curators have concluded that it is not possible at this time to say with any certainty who took them.
Curatorial CommentaryThe Dallas police officer walking on the far left, holding the shotgun, is Weldon E. "Rusty" Robbins. Robbins, an acquaintance of Jack Ruby, had worked crowd control on Main Street during the presidential motorcade on Friday. He was sent to Parkland Memorial Hospital on guard duty shortly after the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald. Robbins recorded an oral history with The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in 2003. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
