DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Mel Barney. A longtime engineer with Texas Instruments, Barney worked with the CIA on a number of high-level security projects during the Cold War. An acquaintance of Jack Ruby, he recalls that Ruby participated in two top-secret flights in 1961.
Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on January 8, 2014 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-seven minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryGeorge Melvin "Mel" Barney passed away on August 3, 2023 at the age of 95. As discussed in this oral history, he authored two books, Four Wars (2011) and Socialism vs. Capitalism (2013).
