A longtime broadcaster with NBC affiliate WDSU in New Orleans, Slatter interviewed Lee Harvey Oswald on radio and television in August 1963, three months before the assassination. Oswald had gained local media attention after being arrested for scuffling with Cuban exiles while handing out pro-Castro leaflets in New Orleans. Ultimately, Oswald paid a $10 for disturbing the peace. \r\n\r\nSlatter later covered New Orleans D.A. Jim Garrison. After a lengthy and highly controversial investigation, in 1969 Garrison unsuccessfully brought local business leader Clay Shaw to trial for being part of a plot to murder President Kennedy. A New Orleans jury found Shaw innocent after less than one hour of deliberations.   \r\n\r\nInterview conducted by telephone on July 14, 2014, by Associate Curator Stephen Fagin.
