Jack Lindquist passed away on February 28, 2016 at the age of 88. In this oral history, he primarily discusses his role as the first advertising manager at Disneyland and his experiences in the 1960s. However, during his long career with the Walt Disney Company (1955-1993), he held a number of positions, including Vice President for Marketing for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Entertainment (worldwide) and the first President of Disneyland Resort. Lindquist is created with a number of advertising innovations, including themed anniversary promotions and the creation of "Disney Dollars" theme park currency. He is also credited with creating the recognized commercial tagline, "I'm going to Disneyland," first used during the 1985 Super Bowl. Upon his retirement, Lindquist's name was added to a commemorative window on one of the buildings lining Main Street, USA at Disneyland. His memoir, In Service to the Mouse, was published in 2010.
