In addition to John and Nellie Connally and Dan Rather, that list includes Nolan Ryan, Prescott Bush, Bette Davis, Gene Autry, Mickey Mantle, Shirley Jones and Howard Cosell. Interestingly, Herskowitz was hired in 1999 to quickly ghostwrite the autobiography of then-Texas Governor George W. Bush. Although Herskowitz met with Bush close to twenty times, he was replaced by Bush aide Karen Hughes after ten finished chapters were submitted to the governor. The book, A Charge to Keep, was published later that year. \r\n\r\n In History's Shadow by John Connally with Mickey Herskowitz was published in November 1993, some five months after the former governor passed away. Exactly ten years later, Herskowitz collaborated with Governor Connally's widow, Nellie, for the best-selling memoir, From Love Field: Our Final Hours with President John F.
