Originally held together with three metal brads on left side. [Metal brads removed prior to transport to UNT for digitization. Per a discussion with Lindsey Richardson and Stephanie Allen-Givens, it was agreed to dispose of the metal brads since we would not be putting them back in the transcripts and there was no need to keep them for historical purposes. Melvin Belli, Joe Tonahill, Phil Burleson, and Sam Brody spoke for Ruby; Henry Wade, Dallas County District Attorney, was the prosecutor, assisted by Jim Bowie, Bill Alexander, and Frank Watts. The presiding judge was Judge Joe B. Brown.

Prospective jurors examined: Mrs. Mildred McCollum, Steve Mueck, Mrs. Maria Springgob, George W. Roberts Jr., A. E. Parrott, Lee Oscar Elder, A. C. Phillips, A. B. Garza, M. C. David, Robert J. McCrary, Harry E. Smith, H. L. Eckert, and R. S. McKeever. 

Mildred McCollum was selected to the jury.
