DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Tony Zoppi. The nightclub editor for The Dallas Morning News in 1963, Mr. Zoppi reported events at Parkland Hospital and helped deliver the casket used for President Kennedy. Mr. Zoppi had known Jack Ruby for more than twelve years. He maintained contact with Ruby after the assassination and became good friends with Ruby's flamboyant defense attorney, Melvin Belli.
Interview conducted at Zoppi's apartment on June 1, 1992 by Wes Wise and Bob Porter. The interview is one hour and eight minutes long.
Curatorial CommentaryMr. Zoppi later donated to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza a loudspeaker that had been installed inside Jack Ruby's Carousel Club. Although not directly referenced in this oral history, it is visible in the foreground on Mr. Zoppi's coffee table.
