Senator Edmund Muskie standing at the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Dallas, Texas on July 1, 1971. The image shows Senator Muskie standing alone in front of the central granite block inscribed with the name "John Fitzgerald Kennedy." A bouquet of flowers sits in the center of the granite block. The Senator was visiting Dallas for the Texas Bar Association convention.
Curatorial CommentaryEdmund Sixtus Muskie served as a U.S. senator from Maine from 1959 to 1980, after which he served as U.S. Secretary of State for President Jimmy Carter for eight months. He passed away in 1996. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
