DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Gwendolyn McMillan Lawe. A native of Emory, Texas, Lawe was among the first African Americans to graduate from her community's desegregated school system. In 1971, she became a teacher at Hillcrest High School in Dallas during its first year of full integration. In addition to forty years in education, she has been active in historic preservation, co-founding and directing the A.C. McMillan African American Museum in Emory, Texas.
Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on June 6, 2016 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is fifty-nine minutes long.
