DescriptionVideotaped oral history interview with Jane Shettle, Ann Watley, and Juanita Nañez. Three classmates, all juniors at North Dallas High School in 1963, share their memories: Shettle’s late mother, an employee of Union Station on Houston Street, was standing near the corner of Houston and Elm at the time of the assassination. Watley caught a brief glimpse of the Kennedy motorcade on Main Street. Nañez got a close look at the motorcade from Lee Park at the corner of Lemmon Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on July 20, 2016 by Curator Stephen Fagin. The interview is forty-four minutes long.
Curatorial Commentary
Group oral histories are always exciting because inevitably more information is recalled and shared when prompted by the recollections of others. They are always more lively and colorful conversations. On July 20, 2016, I had the rare opportunity to conduct oral histories with five longtime friends, all of whom were juniors at North Dallas High School on November 22, 1963. In this interview, Jane Shettle, Ann Watley and Juanita Nañez all shared their memories.
