In this hearing, more than a month after a guilty verdict was reached in Ruby's trial for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, his defense team requests a new trial. The defense no longer includes Melvin Belli. The judge denied defendant's requests for a new trial. At the end of the transcript, the defense notifies the court of its intention to file an appeal.
The transcript retains original covers; is 93 typed pages of onionskin paper; each page has a printed footer that reads "Shirley M. Stinebaugh, Official Court Reporter, RI 2-8274, Dallas, Texas".
Originally held together with metal brads. [Metal brads removed prior to transport to UNT for digitization. Per a discussion with Lindsey Richardson and Stephanie Allen-Givens, it was agreed to dispose of the metal brads since we would not be putting them back in the transcripts and there was no need to keep them for historical purposes. Transcript in ok condition. Onionskin pages are in better condition than front and reverse covers; all pages yellowed. Covers have slight discoloration and edges have small tears and minor fold creases; black residue on proper right front edge and left reverse edge from previous adhesive binding. Edges of three-hole punches have been worn with small tears. Deep vertical crease on front cover just to right of holes.
