DescriptionProgram from President John F. Kennedy's funeral services held at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Monday, November 25, 1963. Program is printed on cream-colored paper with a black border around each page. Inside and back pages of the program are blank except for the black borders. Front of the program has an embossed presidential seal centered near the top with the following text printed below: "Funeral Services of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Late President of the United States November twenty-fifth Nineteen hundred and sixty-three At twelve noon Saint Matthews Cathedral Rhode Island Avenue NW. Between 17th and 18th".
Curatorial Commentary
Included in the Museum's temporary exhibit, "Mourning a President," about the funeral and mourning rites for President John F. Kennedy, this item will be on display on the Museum's seventh floor from November 17, 2017 to February 19, 2018. -- Lindsey Richardson, Curator of Collections
This program was donated to the Museum by Philip Carver, Jr. His late father, Philip "Doc" Carver, served as a White House Naval Aide to President Kennedy in 1963 and was therefore invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
