DescriptionPhotograph of courtroom pencil sketch on paper by WFAA-TV courtroom artist Walt Stewart. The sketch shows Judge Joe B. Brown instructing the jury during the Jack Ruby trial on March 13, 1964. The sketch shows Judge Joe B. Brown seated at the judge's bench in the background. In the foreground, Jack Ruby can be seen sitting next to one of his defense attorneys, Joe Tonahill, who leans slightly towards Ruby. Handwritten captions along the bottom edge of the image read "To Joe Tonahill / Walt Stewart / WFAA-TV," "Brown instructing jury for final arguments," and "Joe Tonahill." Stewart's signature "Stewart 3/13/64 / Ruby trial" is located in the lower right corner under the sketch and above the captions. Stewart made the original pencil sketches for WFAA-TV during the trial of Jack Ruby after the judge barred cameras from the courtroom.
