In 2013, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings appointed Altshuler as chair of the President John F. Kennedy Commemorative Foundation to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination in Dallas. \r\n\r\nInterview conducted at Mrs. Altshuler's home in Dallas on September 19, 2017 by Stephen Fagin, C. Dealey Campbell and Virginia McAlester. One of the interviewers, Dallas historian Virginia McAlester, recorded her own oral history in 2018 and sadly passed away in 2020.
