The nap of the rug is made of a cut pile and lays flat to one side. \r\n\r\nA tag is stitched into the whip-stitch edging on the reverse in upper right corner; it has the following text printed in red:\r\n\r\n\"D.T.C. The top half is a bright blue field with white stars, and the lower half is composed of wide vertical red and white stripes - all elements are reminiscent of a flag.\r\n\r\nThe red fiber used to create the stripes and Dr. King's and Senator Kennedy's ties and the blue fibers used to create the upper part of the background and elements of President Kennedy's clothes have a sheen to them. All other fibers have a matte appearance. The entire textile has a velvety effect. The nap is made up of a cut pile and lays flat to one side. \r\n\r\nTag stitched into whip-stitch edging on reverse in upper right corner; attached upside down. Tag has the following text printed in red:\r\n\"D.T.C. RN 22580\r\n42 % RAYON\r\n36 % WASTE COTTON\r\n22 % COTTON\r\nMADE IN LEBANON\".\r\n\r\nThe textile was mass-produced, made in Lebanon, and likely created and distributed during the late 1960s to early 1970s. The fiber content is 42% rayon, 36% waste cotton, 22% cotton.\r\n\r\nThe corners of the textile are curled; whipstitch edging is fraying on corners. End of tag not sewn down is fraying.
